Medical Billing Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
🎨 General Information & Eligibility
Is a medical wig different from a regular fashion wig?
Yes. In the medical industry, a wig used for hair loss is officially called a Cranial Prosthesis. The units in our Masterpiece Suites Collection are custom-engineered using 100% premium virgin human hair. They feature breathable cap constructions designed to protect highly sensitive scalps and mimic natural hair growth.
Who qualifies for an insurance or Medicaid-covered Cranial Prosthesis?
Any individual experiencing temporary or permanent hair loss due to a verified medical condition may qualify. This includes individuals undergoing chemotherapy, radiation treatments, or living with Alopecia, scalp trauma, or Trichotillomania.
📋 Insurance & Texas Medicaid Process
Does Texas Medicaid cover the cost of a Cranial Prosthesis?
Yes, but under strict state guidelines. Per the Texas Medicaid Provider Procedures Manual, prosthetic coverage for non-surgical hair loss is limited to children and young adults from birth through 20 years of age.
Can you accept out-of-state Medicaid?
No. Because Medicaid is managed independently by individual states, we are only credentialed to bill and accept Texas Medicaid and Texas-specific Managed Care Organizations (like Superior HealthPlan or Texas Children's Health Plan).
What steps must I take before my appointment or order?
You must gather your Medical Trilogy paperwork:
- A written prescription from your doctor stating "Cranial Prosthesis" (not a wig).
- An approved ICD-10 medical diagnosis code written on the prescription by your doctor.
- Your insurance or Texas Medicaid member card.
Can I just buy the wig online today and bill Medicaid later?
No. Texas Medicaid requires a process called Prior Authorization. We must submit your prescription and clinical diagnosis paperwork through the state portal and receive formal state approval before we can hand over or ship your custom virgin hair unit.
💳 Payment & Private Insurance
What if I have private commercial insurance instead of Medicaid?
We can provide you with an official, itemized medical invoice containing our National Provider Identifier (NPI) number and Medical Billing Code A9282. You can submit this receipt directly to your private insurance company for personal reimbursement.
What if my insurance claim is denied or I am over 21?
If you do not meet the Texas Medicaid age criteria or your private insurance denies the claim, we offer flexible cash-pay options, styling packages, and custom payment plans so you can still secure your masterpiece unit.
